What We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for a hands-on, reliable Facilities Manager who takes pride in creating clean, safe, and well-maintained spaces and enjoys rallying volunteers to make it happen. You’re the kind of person who:

Position SummaryThe Facilities Manager handles janitorial services, arranges routine maintenance and vendor contracts, supports event setups, and manages volunteer cleaning and workday teams for both State Street Community Church and The Pax Center. Your work ensures our spaces are ready for worship, programs, and community activities—every day.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Care and Janitorial- Perform routine cleaning: restrooms, floors, trash/recycling, dusting, classrooms, sanctuary, kitchen, and common areas.
- Maintain weekly/monthly cleaning checklists and deep-cleaning rotations
- Stock and manage supplies (paper goods, soap, cleaning products, etc.)
- Make sure snow is removed in winter, and the lawn is mowed in summer.
Maintenance and Vendors- Complete basic repairs within skill set (light painting, touch-ups, etc.)
- Coordinate and oversee contractors for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control, and specialty repairs.
Volunteer Teams- Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer cleaning teams and periodic workday crews
- Create clear task lists and guidelines; provide cheerful leadership and appreciation
- Partner with staff to grow a culture of shared ownership for our spaces
Event Support and Setups- Set up and tear down for services, classes, and community events (chairs, tables, signage, etc.)
- Ensure rooms are reset and buildings are secure following events
Safety, Compliance, and Administration- Monitor safety items (exits clear, lighting, fire extinguishers, signage) and report issues promptly.
- Help ensure facilities align with local codes and insurance requirements
- Track small facilities budget items and submit purchase requests for larger needs
- Be available for occasional, pre-agreed on-call response to urgent issues
QualificationsPreferred- Experience in facilities, janitorial, property, or maintenance roles
- Comfortable with tools and basic building systems; able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders
- Organized, reliable, proactive; able to manage multiple tasks and timelines
- Strong people skills for working with volunteers, vendors, and staff
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, willingness to complete a background check
- Experience coordinating contractors and volunteer teams
- Familiarity with churches/nonprofits or community centers
- Comfort with simple digital tools like email.

Compensation and Schedule- Part-time, 15–25 hours/week
